Just before the UFC 237 started, president Dana White gave out a blockbuster announcement as he posted on social media that Nate Diaz will make his return to the Octagon. It has been finalized that a welterweight clash between Diaz and former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will take place at UFC 241 on August 17 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
It will be the first time since UFC 202 in 2016 that Diaz will make an appearance in the Octagon. His last fight was a losing effort against Conor McGregor in a blockbuster clash (and the-then most selling UFC PPV in history). Diaz had choked out McGregor at the MGM Grand Garden in an earlier fight on March 5, 2016.
Diaz was scheduled to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 last year. But an injury before the event ruled out Poirier from the event and ruined 34-year-old Diaz’s comeback.
